Sara-Ann is an experienced psychologist who is dedicated to supporting her patients’ progress and growth. She started her career as a research psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH; Singapore), focusing on neurocognition and social cognition in patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. She was later awarded a full scholarship under the Health Manpower Development Plan to pursue a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the National University of Singapore, returning to IMH upon completion of her training.

In her role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at IMH, Sara-Ann worked with both inpatient and outpatient adult clients and their families, providing individual and group psychotherapy. In addition, she has extensive experience conducting various types of assessments (e.g. IQ, neurocognitive, personality etc). As part of the psychology department, Sara-Ann provided clinical supervision to fellow psychologists and allied health professionals as well as training to external organisations on crisis management and psychological first aid.

Apart from her clinical work, Sara-Ann currently lectures at the Singapore Institute of Technology and was previously an adjunct teaching faculty member at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In her research career, she has published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals and served as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at IMH, overseeing research protocols submitted for ethics approval. She was appointed as a junior board member of the Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS) in 2022 and serves on its Diversity Committee.

Sara-Ann draws from multiple therapeutic approaches in her clinical practice (e.g., Cognitive Behavioural, Schema, Acceptance and Commitment, Psychodynamic). She believes that establishing a safe therapeutic space allows for a deeper exploration of the relational and emotional concerns that many clients face. While she has worked with clients with varied presentations, Sara-Ann has a particular strong interest working with individuals struggling with their mood, anxiety and psychotic concerns. She believes in the importance of supporting her clients in making sense of their experiences and working towards leading life aligned with their values.
